Well, this is the last day of “Art Every Day Month” project. Happy & Sad, - sad it’s over - happy because thanks to Leah (and Jul for pointing me to Leah’s blog) I was able to follow up on a personal commitment to focus and create a work of art each and every day for the month of November, 2008 = 30 works in total!

And, I had the priviledge of viewing simply incredible artworks & creative expressions shared by fellow AEDM participating artists. Oodles of inspiration!! I would like to sincerely thank everyone who took the time to pop by the blog and leave such nice comments and words of encouragement. They are truly cherished! Ju Duoqi

Ju Duoqi is a young talented Chinese artist, full of creativity. In The Vegetable Museum series, she revisits in a stunning way some masterpieces of the western painting. Making use of vegetables and food of China’s everyday life – tofu, cabbage, ginger, lotus roots, coriander, sweet potato…

“– and through digital manipulation, she presents a puzzling series of vegetable compositions representing world famous paintings like Mona Lisa, The Cene by Leonard Da Vinci, The Dream by Pablo Picasso or Marilyn Monroe by Warhol.”

Food and aliments are recurrent in Ju Duoqi’s works. She puts them out of their natural context to give them a second life. In The Vegetable Museum, the vegetables change of status: ordinary, coarse, insignificant, perishable, they become exceptional and lasting.

Born in 1973 in Chongqing, Ju Duoqi.is graduated from The Sichuan Fine Arts College. She currently lives and works in Beijing. Part of the One Child Policy generation, Ju Duoqi saw China huge transformation, the transition from an agricultural society to a post industrial society.

Colorful, creative, Ju Duoqi collages astonish. She creates her own language and destabilizes the boundary between reality and fiction. I have this “thing” with pastel colours, (we don’t seem to see eye to eye) but I am persistent and have given it another go, a virtual scarf perhaps? - Only 4 more ADEM’s to go till the end of the month, oh my! :o)

Just having fun playing with variants from the same colour pallette. I have yet to journey into the world of 3D, but in No25a I was trying to achieve lighting on the golden circles that gave a 3D’ish look.

I think it’s time to go dig the colourful twinkly lights out and hang them up. It’s fun to turn all the lights out in the living room and just watch the reflections of colours flicker! :o)
